Abstract

Self-driving vehicles, also known as autonomous cars, are rapidly emerging as a transformative innovation in the automotive industry. These vehicles rely on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, sensors, radar, and LiDAR to operate with minimal or no human intervention. This article explores how AI enables vehicles to perceive their surroundings, make decisions, and navigate safely. It also highlights different technological approaches, including vision-based systems and LiDAR-based systems, along with their advantages and limitations. Furthermore, the article discusses key challenges such as safety, cost, and reliability that must be addressed before widespread adoption. Despite these challenges, autonomous vehicles have the potential to reduce human error, improve road safety, and revolutionize transportation in the future.
