This article explores The Aimless Dive Problem—a growing habit among software engineering students where ideas are executed quickly using AI-generated code without understanding the underlying concepts. It argues that this surface-level research mindset creates engineers who appear productive but lack depth, ultimately weakening problem-solving ability, system design thinking, and innovation. Focusing on Pakistan’s tech ecosystem, the article highlights how over-reliance on AI without verification or inquiry risks producing fragile systems and limiting industry growth.
