Abstract

The rapid integration of AI into workplaces and education is usually celebrated for its efficiency, this article highlights a hidden risk called Cognitive Delegation Debt. This is the invisible undetectable cost of losing human thinking skills when we let algorithms take over our tasks and perform everything without giving ourself a chance to think or solve the problem. By comparing this to technical debt  in software, the article explains how constant dependance  on AI causes human intelligence  to weaken. Using real stories from a Pakistani classroom and a university web project, this article shows how students today earn degrees but not real skills they lack the actual skills to solve problems. This pattern is also appearing in industries like finance and logistics. The article argues that we must treat human thinking as an asset that needs regular practice and maintenance. For Pakistan’s growing digital economy, acknowledging this debt is the first step toward using AI responsibly without losing our own intellectual strength
