Abstract

Social media has become an important part of modern life, connecting billions of people around the world. Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X influence how people communicate, think, and share information. While social media provides many benefits, it also raises concerns about its effect on human behavior and mental thinking. Social media algorithms are designed to keep users engaged by showing personalized content based on their interests and activities. This can influence opinions, emotions, decisions, and even daily habits. Excessive use of social media may lead to addiction, anxiety, reduced attention span, and the spread of misinformation. At the same time, social media also supports learning, awareness, creativity, and global communication. This article explores how social media affects human minds, the role of algorithms in shaping online behavior, and whether these platforms are controlling people’s thoughts and actions. It also highlights the importance of responsible social media usage and digital awareness in today’s technological world.
