Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) is fundamentally revolutionizing the automotive industry by transforming conventional vehicles into intelligent, connected machines capable of real-time communication, autonomous decision-making, and enhanced safety management. IoT-connected cars utilize embedded sensors, wireless networks, and cloud computing to enable features such as vehicle-to-vehicle communication, predictive maintenance, intelligent navigation, and remote diagnostics. This article explores the core technologies behind smart vehicles, their real-world applications, and the significant benefits they offer in terms of road safety, fuel efficiency, and passenger convenience. Furthermore, it examines the challenges surrounding cybersecurity, data privacy, infrastructure readiness, and the potential for IoT-driven smart transportation adoption in developing countries like Pakistan. As the global automotive landscape shifts toward full connectivity and autonomy, understanding the opportunities and risks of this technological transformation becomes essential for engineers, policymakers, and consumers alike.
