Abstract

Despite rapid advancements in cybersecurity technologies, human error continues to remain the most critical vulnerability in protecting digital systems. Organizations invest heavily in firewalls, encryption, intrusion detection systems, and multi-factor authentication, yet simple user mistakes can bypass even the most sophisticated defenses. Actions such as clicking phishing links, using weak or repeated passwords, ignoring security warnings, and accidental data exposure frequently lead to data breaches, financial losses, and reputational damage. This article examines common types of human errors in cybersecurity, highlights the role of modern security technologies, and analyzes the potential impacts of these mistakes on individuals and organizations. It also discusses practical mitigation strategies, including user awareness training, strong password policies, multi-factor authentication, and regular security updates. Ultimately, the study emphasizes that cybersecurity is not only a technological challenge but also a human-centered issue requiring continuous education and responsible user behavior.
