Abstract

In the current digital world, data is no longer solely constrained by what users consciously submit (via clicks, posts or searches). Passive interactions including scrolling behaviour, typing patterns, location tracking and device usage continuously gather a colossal amount of information which is also known as invisible data. This paper will discuss how big technology corporations are using behavioral analytics, artificial intelligence, and data tracking systems to collect and analyze this hidden layer of user information. Unseen data is essential in driving personalized services, predictive systems, and digital experiences that are targeted. Nevertheless, studies indicate that as many as 8090% of digital behavioral insights are produced by passive data collection, which is highly problematic in regards to the awareness, consent, and privacy of users. In highly digitalized areas like Pakistan, the growth of digital platforms is increasing the volume of data, and it is becoming more and more crucial to comprehend how such data is utilized. The article notes down the opportunities and threats of the invisible data. Although these insights can be used by businesses and startups to provide better services and maximize user experiences, the absence of robust data protection systems can subject users to privacy breaches and security risks, such as social engineering attacks. In the future, a combination of artificial intelligence and invisible data is likely to further increase predictive capabilities, and to ensure that innovation and ethical data practices and regulatory oversight are balanced.
