Abstract
This article examines the increasing trend of "Brain Drain" in Pakistan, where thousands of skilled professionals and students emigrate annually. In 2024 alone, nearly 200,000 individuals, including 12,000 engineers and 5,000 doctors, left the country, ranking Pakistan 6th globally in human capital migration. The piece explores the root causes, such as a theoretical education system, a job market that often prioritizes connections over merit, and the resulting $4.2 billion annual economic loss. By highlighting the personal struggles of graduates and the specific impact on the IT sector, the article calls for urgent reforms in the university system and job market to retain Pakistan’s most valuable talent.
