Abstract
Gaming has quickly become a social phenomenon, bringing together millions of gamers worldwide, including an increasing number in Pakistan. Yet, this growth has also led to an increase in toxicity, bullying and cheating that could deter engagement and negatively affect gameplay. This article examines the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in countering such issues by enabling real-time monitoring, voice and text moderation, and the prediction of user conduct.
It points out the benefits and drawbacks of AI solutions, noting that although AI systems can help minimize toxicity, increase player enjoyment, and improve game engagement, it still struggles with context, cultural differences, and fairness. It stresses the need for a combination of AI with human moderation and contextual understanding, and fairness. The debate highlights the need to integrate AI solutions with human moderation and community initiatives to enhance safety and inclusivity in gaming.
Finally, the article suggests that to promote a positive gaming culture in Pakistan's burgeoning exports industry, it is not enough to rely on just technology - we also need education and a sense of responsibility among gamers.
