Abstract

This paper examines the dual use of the Raspberry Pi in terms of smart homes' cyber security issues in the fast-developing tech ecosystem of Pakistan. On one hand, a well-configured Raspberry Pi may successfully protect the network from 99.9% of cyber security threats, such as the brute force attacks, DoS attacks, malware, among other things, through the utilization of software, such as MISP, and Suricata. On the other hand, a weakly protected Raspberry Pi becomes itself a vulnerability that hackers easily exploit. This paper focuses on such major findings of scientific research as the low-performance impact of reliable encryption technology (for example, DSEKP), physical access to computers, and the absence of secure booting.
